Wan Jusoh Lab – Natural History, Biodiversity & Conservation is located at Monash University Malaysia. Under Dr Wan Faridah Akmal Jusoh, the Lab is committed to advancing research in taxonomy, behaviour, ecology, natural history, and biodiversity conservation.

Taxonomy and systematics
We are interested in all kind of fireflies but our focus largely within the Luciolinae subfamily in Southeast Asia and the Australopacific region. We use various analyses of morphology, molecular data, behaviour, and ecology, leading to taxonomic revisions. Read more

Natural history
Every creature has a story. In collaboration with biodiversity specialists, historians and museum curators, we explore the history of collections, collectors and taxonomists to locate original specimens (type specimens) collected from Sundaland region. Read more

Conservation biology
Our conservation biology research aims to create a comprehensive inventory of regional fauna using verified specimen data and field observations. We believe crucial species data over the past decades need to be mobilised, databased and made accessible for future analysis. Read more
